Giving back to the communities in which we live and work is a fundamental effort.

Start your training regimen, memorize the rule book, and begin stretching out – the TPG Throwdown: Cornhole for a Cause is coming up!

Well, OK, you have some time – our spirited cornzizzle of a competition will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. All are welcome to this outdoor board bash, to be held at Hillsboro Stadium (4400 NE Century Blvd, Hillsboro, OR). Proceeds from the corn-a-ment will be donated to a chosen non-profit, to be announced at a later date.

About the Sport – Yes, It’s a Sport
Cornhole is said to have originated in 14th-century Bavaria, when a cabinetmaker saw children tossing rocks into a hole in the ground. He built them their own set and replaced the rocks with small bags filled with corn. Fast-forward several centuries: cornhole is now found across the U.S., from bars to beaches to backyard barbecues, with professional cornhole events broadcast on ESPN. It has its own lingo, staunch rules, travel teams, and exacting regulations.

Not to worry! Our TPG Throwdown will not feature that kind of athletic pressure; it will be a relaxing, enjoyable team-toss tourney for friends and colleagues, along with food, drinks, prizes, and more.

About the TPG Foundation
In 2020, The Partners Group established the TPG Foundation as a means of generating large-scale donations through major fundraising events like the TPG Throwdown. Its mission statement is: “Making a difference in the communities in which we live and work by investing in the health, wellbeing, and education of the next generation.”

All funds generated by the Foundation will be given to specifically chosen charities and non-profits that serve the next generation. The Foundation and its events are in support of our #Give30 Campaign launched in 2020, in which TPG will give back $30 million by 2030 to our employees and to the communities in which we live and work.

More about the Foundation’s Work
While the TPG Throwdown will be its first major public event, the Foundation has already raised $75,000 for worthy causes since its inception in 2020, through both employee donations and corporate matching.

Recently, thanks to the incredible generosity of its employees, the TPG Foundation donated more than $45,000 to Medical Teams International to support their work on the ground in Ukraine.
